Australia Name Squad For World Test Championship Final: Pat Cummins To Lead; No Surprises

Captain Pat Cummins, who missed the Sri Lanka series earlier this year with an ankle issue and then paternity leave, has returned to the fold, while Josh Hazlewood has also come back from a calf injury

Australia have confirmed their squad for the upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa.

The Proteas and Australia will go head-to-head at Lord's between June 11-15.

Australia are the defending champions, and their squad did not include any major surprises.

Captain Pat Cummins, who missed the Sri Lanka series earlier this year with an ankle issue and then paternity leave, has returned to the fold, while Josh Hazlewood has also come back from a calf injury.

Sam Konstas and Cameron Green have also been recalled for the squad, which will be the same one that then tours West Indies on the back of the clash with South Africa.

One unexpected factor that could disrupt Australia's preparations is the Indian Premier League.

It was confirmed on Monday that the IPL, which was suspended last week, will resume on May 17 and run until June 3.

However, Australia's management will make adjustments for any players named in the squad who still wish to compete in the IPL.

"Following the announcement that the IPL will resume on Saturday, Cricket Australia will support players in their individual decisions whether to return to India or not," a CA spokesperson said.

"Team management will work through preparation implications for the World Test Championship Final for those players who choose to play in the remaining IPL matches.

"We are maintaining communication with the Australian Government and BCCI around security arrangements and safety."

Australia squad in full: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster. Travelling reserve: Brendan Doggett.
