As congratulations poured in for Team RRR, two-time Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman also reacted to Natu Natu getting an Oscar nod. While interacting with the media at an event in Mumbai, the celebrated music composer said that a decade back, Indian films should have been recognized at international awards.
“I thought it (India getting the nomination) would start ten years ago. It is 12 years late,” he told reporters. “It should happen every year from India because we are a country of 1.3 billion people and there is amazing talent in every aspect of filmmaking. Most films don’t enter the competition.”
Rahman said, “At least they (the makers of RRR) had the guts to put it out there. If nobody knows your film, who is going to vote for it? I wish them all the best and I wish that they may live.”
