Indian Premier League 2025

Holders Kolkata Knight Riders are seeking to defend their title in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. The 2025 season, played from Saturday, March 22 to Sunday, May 25, has 10 teams fighting it out for the top prize in the world's most cash-rich league.

IPL 2025 features 74 games, including 70 group-stage matches, three playoff clashes, and the final. Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will try to earn a record sixth trophy, while teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings seek their maiden title. The 43-year-old MS Dhoni continues to be the cynosure of all eyes as he undertakes another IPL season journey with CSK, this time with old apprentice Ravichandran Ashwin alongside him. Meanwhile, another batting titan Virat Kohli eyes the elusive glory for RCB, with Rajat Patidar as the new captain. DC too have named a new skipper in the form of India all-rounder Axar Patel, while Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals continue with Pat Cummins and Sanju Samson as their respective trusted leaders. Shreyas Iyer has taken over the reins for PBKS, and KKR have out-of-favour international cricketer Ajinkya Rahane in charge this time.
