Ajith Kumar, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shekhar Kapur, Arijit Singh received Padma Awards in New Delhi on April 28. The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu.
The prestigious Padma Awards 2025 took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Monday, April 28. Eminent personalities from the entertainment industry including Ajith Kumar, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shekhar Kapur, Arijit Singh and Ricky Kej received their award from President Droupadi Murmu. Singer Pankaj Udhas was honoured posthumously.
Nandamuri Balakrishna was in a traditional Andhra Pradesh attire to receive his Padma Bhushan, while Ajith Kumar donned a suit for the special occasion. Shekhar Kapur and Shobhana are also honoured with a Padma Bhushan. Pankaj Udhas’ wife accepted the award. The singer passed away in February 2024.
Playback singer Arijit Singh and music composer Ricky Kej were conferred with a Padma Shri.

On the eve of the 76th Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the list of the recipients of Padma Awards 2025. The set of civilian awards includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
Several notable personalities in the field of sports, business, medicine, and other fields received the awards on Monday. The award ceremony was streamed live on YouTube.
