Empuraan Row: FEFKA Condemns Personal Attacks On Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran

Malayalam film, L2: Empuraan, which released on Thursday, faced a severe backlash from Hindu groups, including members of the right-wing, over some certain scenes that allegedly referred to the 2002 anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat. The film was criticised for promoting 'anti-Hindu' ideology, which made the makers to voluntarily re-edit the film.

Amid the political row, a film industry body on Monday, March 31, condemned the social media attacks on actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal, reported PTI.

As per industry sources, this is the first time a film organisation has openly expressed solidarity with the actors after the release of Empuraan.

In a Facebook post, Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) stated: “We welcome criticism of the film라이브 바카라 form and content without any compromises. Only through constructive criticism can an art form truly evolve. However, we firmly believe that criticism should not descend into personal attacks, threats, or branding, regardless of political or religious affiliations.”

The organisation also stated that the goal of meaningful debate is not to silence the opposing voices but to allow them to speak.

FEFKA also said that they stand in solidarity with all the film professionals who worked on Empuraan.

The organisation concluded the post with a quote from Ernest Hemingway라이브 바카라 The Old Man and the Sea: “A man can be destroyed but not defeated.”

What Mohanlal said about the controversy

"As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that none of my films are hostile to any political movement, ideology or religious group," Mohanlal wrote on Facebook as he issued an apology.

He said that they have compulsorily decided to remove certain scenes.

"I have learnt that some of the political-social themes that have emerged in the expression of the movie, Empuraan, the second part of the Lucifer franchise, have caused a lot of depression for many of my lovers. As an artist, it is my duty to ensure that none of my movies harbours hatred towards any political movement, ideology or religion. Therefore, myself and the Empuraan team sincerely regret the mental pain caused to my loved ones, and with the realisation that the responsibility lies with all of us who worked behind the film. We have decided together to compulsorily remove such topics from the cinema (sic)," wrote the Malayalam superstar.

Empuraan has been directed by Prithviraj and backed by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan, and Subaskaran, under Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions. It also features Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran, in key roles.

As per makers, Empuraan has earned Rs 200 crore at the worldwide box office.
