The Diplomat OTT Release: Here's When And Where To Watch John Abraham Starrer

After almost two months of its theatrical release, John Abraham starrer The Diplomat is all set to arrive on the OTT space. John plays Indian diplomat J.P. Singh, and the film received positive response from the audience and critics alike upon its release. Here's where and when you can watch The Diplomat on OTT.

The Diplomat OTT release: When and where to watch the film online?

The Diplomat will start streaming on OTT giant, Netflix, from May 9, at 1:30 PM (IST), as per reports.

Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, John revealed how his film was rejected by OTT platforms because they didn't find it good.

He said, "The loss of faith happens from the studio. So when a studio sees a film it goes and does a round of OTTs, because a studio may want to mitigate the risk by sending it to an OTT channel. Some OTT channels have refused The Diplomat because they didn't find it great. They didn't find it good. They rejected the film; they threw it out."

The Diplomat story

Directed by Shivam Nair and written by Ritesh Shah, The Diplomat is based on a true story. John Abraham played the real-life Indian diplomat J.P. Singh, who embarks a risky mission to rescue the ‘Daughter of India’.

John gets entangled in personal conflicts and international diplomacy after Uzma Ahmed, a refugee, comes to the embassy. 

Uzma describes how she was kidnapped and forced to marry Tahir, a Pakistani man of Pathan origin, only to become the victim of violence and abuse.

The film explores themes of India-Pakistan relations, diplomacy, power and humanity. It show how diplomats encounter moral and ethical dilemmas when their personal lives intertwine with political or state matters.

Apart from John Abraham, the movie also stars Sadia Khateeb who plays the role of Uzma Ahmed. Kubbra Sait, Sharib Hashmi, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Denzil Smith play significant roles.

The Diplomat box office

Reportedly, The Diplomat made a gross collection of approximately Rs 53.56 crore worldwide. The India's net collection was Rs 40.73 crore, gross was Rs 48.06 crore, and overseas earnings was Rs 5.50 crore.
