Poem: Dead Rosary

Every hotel room has some flaws — this or that
You search it out
before breakfast. The bathroom has a noisy faucet
as if a whole river is trapped바카라 웹사이트

You can almost hear gulls screeching, water gurgling바카라 웹사이트

You pull back the heavy hotel curtains, beige, in the windows
to find an emerald tin roof바카라 웹사이트
of a wooden house, now closed, and an old jarul tree바카라 웹사이트
with mauve flowers. A whole assembly of wet crows바카라 웹사이트
looks at you바카라 웹사이트
from its branches, only slightly curious바카라 웹사이트
Nothing more, nothing less바카라 웹사이트

The mountains are not visible now. They are brushed바카라 웹사이트
by the rain,바카라 웹사이트
a single master stroke in watercolour
But you know they are there바카라 웹사이트
beyond the watery white of the sky. Like our eyes in sorrow

Now that you are visiting your old hometown
without a home
at the soggy toe of the Himalayas, you can somehow empathize바카라 웹사이트
with your friends and enemies;
they also touch바카라 웹사이트
their own grief and move away, one by one

You close the window and open the wardrobe and find바카라 웹사이트
an old Tibetan rosary바카라 웹사이트
hanging from a clothes hook.바카라 웹사이트
Someone might have left it there in a hurry

You keep the rosary on the writing desk바카라 웹사이트
and look at its 108 beads questioningly바카라 웹사이트
as if awaiting some answer바카라 웹사이트
or further instructions before you touch it바카라 웹사이트
with your right thumb and heart and count your thoughts,
one by one바카라 웹사이트
But, around the rosary, there is a dead hum바카라 웹사이트

You close the wardrobe and open the windows바카라 웹사이트
in the opposite direction;
you find an old woman, Tibetan,바카라 웹사이트
walking on the Hill Cart Road with a red umbrella
in one hand바카라 웹사이트
and a rosary in the other. She wears black lipstick.
