Lt. Governor VK Saxena Tells Atishi AAP Lost As They Were 'Cursed By Yamuna Maiya'

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena reportedly told outgoing Delhi Chief Minister Atishi that her defeat in the Assembly elections was a result of being cursed by Yamuna Maiya when she visited Raj Bhawan to submit her resignation. According to reports, Saxena reminded Atishi that he had repeatedly warned the Delhi government about important public interest issues, particularly the cleaning of the Yamuna River.

Saxena told Atishi that the AAP had lost because of the curse of Yamuna Maiya, stressing that despite his repeated reminders about the significance of addressing public concerns, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government had continued to neglect them.

Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the issue of cleaning the Yamuna River became a central topic of debate. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the Haryana government of poisoning the Yamuna, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his campaign speeches, promised that the BJP would make "Yamuna ji the identity of Delhi."

The BJP achieved a historic victory in the Delhi polls, reclaiming power in the capital after 27 years by defeating AAP. The BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, securing a two-thirds majority, while AAP's seat count dropped significantly from 62 to 22.

Despite the party's overall loss, Atishi managed to retain her Kalkaji seat after a tough contest, defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by a margin of 3,521 votes.
