Biography:
Freddie Mercury, born Farrokh Bulsara in Stone Town, Zanzibar, was the lead vocalist and a key songwriter for the rock band Queen. His parents were Parsi-Indian, and he spent much of his early life in India, attending St. Peter's School where he took piano lessons. In 1964, his family moved to Middlesex, England, due to the Zanzibar Revolution. He then studied graphic art and design at Ealing Art College, graduating in 1969. Mercury joined various bands before forming Queen in 1970 with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. His flamboyant stage persona, powerful four-octave vocal range, and unique songwriting abilities contributed significantly to Queen's success. His compositions include hits such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Somebody to Love," "We Are the Champions," and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Beyond Queen, Mercury also pursued a solo career, releasing albums like "Mr. Bad Guy" (1985) and collaborating with Montserrat Caballé on "Barcelona" (1988).
