Sooraj Cherukat, born in 1992, is an Indian rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor known professionally as Hanumankind. Hailing from Kerala, India, he released his debut single "Daily Dose" in 2019 from his EP Kalari. His track "Big Dawgs," featuring Kalmi, catapulted him to mainstream fame both in India and internationally. He also marked his acting debut in the 2024 film Rifle Club.
Cherukat's early life saw him living in various countries including Egypt, Nigeria, and the UAE before settling in the USA. He attended Houston Community College before returning to India to pursue a business degree at PSG College. He briefly worked at Goldman Sachs and as a gym trainer before starting his music career.
Hanumankind's journey began with performances at NH7 Weekender, adopting the moniker which blends "Hanuman," symbolizing honor and courage, with "mankind." His music is featured on the soundtrack of the Malayalam film, Aavesham. The July 2024 release of "Big Dawgs" gained significant attention, showcasing his high-energy performance in a music video shot in his hometown, which even earned a feature on Kerala Tourism's Instagram page.
