Biography
Eric Marlon Bishop, better known by his stage name Jamie Foxx, is an American actor, comedian, and singer. Born on December 13, 1967, in Terrell, Texas, Foxx grew up in a close-knit but racially segregated community. Shortly after his birth, his parents were no longer part of his upbringing, and he was adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents, Esther Marie and Mark Talley. Foxx often credits his grandmother's love, discipline, and support as the foundation of his success.
From an early age, Foxx displayed remarkable talent. He started playing the piano at the age of five and later became the pianist and choir leader at Terrell's New Hope Baptist Church. Known for his sense of humor even as a child, his third-grade teacher used him as a class incentive: if the class behaved, young Jamie would perform jokes. At Terrell High School, he excelled in academics and sports, playing quarterback on the football team and becoming the first student in the school라이브 바카라 history to pass for more than 1,000 yards. He also pursued music, singing in a band called Leather and Lace.
After high school, Foxx earned a scholarship to United States International University, where he studied musical and performing arts composition. His passion for performance eventually led him to comedy, where he began his career on the stand-up circuit. Adopting the name "Jamie Foxx" to increase his chances of being called to perform at open mic nights, his natural comedic talent quickly gained recognition.
Foxx's breakthrough came in the early 1990s as a cast member on the sketch comedy show In Living Color, where his impeccable timing and ability to mimic voices made him a standout. Building on this success, he starred in and co-created The Jamie Foxx Show (1996–2001), which became a hit and showcased his multifaceted talents.
While Foxx gained fame in comedy, he later transitioned to dramatic roles with equal ease. His portrayal of legendary musician Ray Charles in the biographical film Ray (2004) was transformative, earning him the Academy Award for Best Actor. That same year, he received a second Academy Award nomination for his supporting role in the thriller Collateral. These achievements cemented his reputation as a versatile performer.
Foxx's film career flourished with roles in critically acclaimed movies such as Ali (2001), Dreamgirls (2006), Django Unchained (2012), Baby Driver (2017), and Just Mercy (2019).
