Raised by his single mother, Nancy Hart, a systems analyst, Kevin experienced a challenging childhood, marked by his father's struggles with drug addiction and frequent incarceration. He has an older brother named Robert. To cope with his difficult family life, Hart turned to humor as a defense mechanism. He attended George Washington High School and briefly attended the Community College of Philadelphia before dropping out and moving to New York City.
