Biography:
Lalisa Manobal, known mononymously as Lisa, was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. Originally named Pranpriya Manobal, she legally changed her name to Lalisa, which means "the one being praised," at the suggestion of a fortune teller. Lisa, an only child, was raised by her mother, Chitthip Brüschweiler, and her stepfather, Marco Brüschweiler. From a young age, Lisa displayed a passion for dance, joining the dance crew "We Zaa Cool," which also included GOT7's Bambam. At 13, she auditioned for YG Entertainment in Thailand, becoming the only one accepted out of 4,000 applicants. In 2011, Lisa moved to South Korea to begin her formal training as a trainee, and on April 11, she officially joined the label as its first non-ethnically Korean trainee. After more than five years of training, she debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK on August 8, 2016, becoming one of the most famous female idols of her generation. Lisa is known for her exceptional dancing and rapping skills, quickly gaining international recognition as part of Blackpink. In September 2021, she released her debut single album, Lalisa, which made her the first female artist to sell 736,000 copies of an album in its first week in South Korea, and set the record for the most-viewed music video in the first 24 hours on YouTube by a solo artist. In 2024, Lisa launched her own management company, Lloud, and signed with RCA Records. In 2025, Lisa made her acting debut in the HBO series The White Lotus.
