Biography
Salma Hayek was born in Mexico on September 2, 1966. Her dad was from Lebanon, and her mom was from Mexico. She grew up in a rich family and went to school in the United States for a while. Later, she went back to Mexico to study International Relations but then quit to become an actress.
Hayek started her career in Mexican TV shows. She got famous in Mexico after starring in the telenovela (soap opera) Teresa. Then, she decided to move to Hollywood in 1991 to be in movies, but she didn't know English very well at first. She eventually got her big break in the movie Desperado with Antonio Banderas. Since then, she's been in many different kinds of films, and she's also a movie producer and director. She cares a lot about women's rights and other social causes.
