Many EdTechs have raised billios and failed, whereas we started with minimal savings from our previous jobs,” said Vishwanath Nyathani, Founder and Director of Innomatics Research Labs.
Today, more than 2,000 students are actively training at the Hyderabad campus, with learners coming from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and beyond. Over 20 hostels are filled with students pursuing data science programs at Innomatics, indicating extensive demand. To ease accessibility, the company has expanded to Bangalore and Pune, reducing the need for students to relocate.
Beyond training, Innomatics offers a renowned internship program for aspiring data scientists, regardless of where they completed their training. Through a common entrance test, candidates demonstrating basic to reasonable knowledge are selected. The program covers complex topics like Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, providing hundreds of hours of live lectures and mentoring at no cost. “Many of our students come from non-IT backgrounds like manufacturing, pharmacy, and microbiology. With our support, they successfully transitioned into data science,” said Kalpana Katiki Reddy, CEO of Innomatics Research Labs.
With over 350 cohorts delivered in five years and more than 400,000 hours of live and classroom training, Innomatics has positioned themselves as a prominent data science EdTech in India. Unlike traditional EdTechs where students submit support tickets, Innomatics offers direct interaction with trainers via a live Learning Management System (LMS). “We prioritize real-time learning—students don’t wait for ticket resolutions; they get immediate support,” added Kalpana Katiki Reddy.
Innomatics regularly conducts mock interviews, industry networking events, and hackathons, ensuring students outperform competitors in hiring processes. “Hackathons are now the standard for hiring data scientists. Their journey was filled challenges. During COVID-19, when students couldn’t pay fees and the government restricted operations, Innomatics borrowed INR 1.8 crores to sustain employees. However, many employees moonlighted for other firms, depleting funds. When lockdowns lifted, most didn’t return, forcing the founders to rebuild their team from scratch. “Our loans bounced, bankers came to seize my house, and my credit score collapsed. My family was in tears, but we refused to give up,” recalled Vishwanath Nyathani.
Despite hardships, they turned things around. Alumni success stories led to organic enrollments, reducing marketing expenses. They hired recognized industry professionals, focusing on real-world applications over theoretical training. “Our rule: ‘Don’t just teach theory. If you can’t demonstrate a use case, you can’t teach.’ This approach changed everything,” Vishwanath added.
