A senior Hamas official on Tuesday asserted that it no longer has any interest in pursuing peace talks with Israel after the Israeli cabinet approved a plan of capturing all the Palestinian territory for an indefinite period. The capture would also entail displacing most of the Palestinian population.

The move comes in response to the Israeli cabinet approving a plan to capture all the Palestinian territory for an indefinite period.
Basem Naim, a top Hamas official, told AFP that the group would not entertain any new proposals as Israel continues to carry out its “starvation war.” He further urged the world governments to put pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war in Gaza.
Gaza is currently facing a humanitarian crisis as all aid has been restricted from entering into the region since March 2. Israel also resumed its offensive two weeks after the blockade, ending the two-month blockade claiming to put pressure on Hamas for releasing Israeli hostages.
The United Nations General-Secretary has raised alarms pertaining to the expansion plans laid out by the Israeli cabinet stating that it would "inevitably lead to countless more civilians killed and the further destruction of Gaza".
The UN has also asserted that Israel is bound by International law to supply food and medical supplies in Gaza. Israel, however, has claimed that it is complying with the established norms and there is no shortage of aid in the region.
The UN and other humanitarian agencies have also warned of a possible famine in Gaza if the supply of aid is not resumed.
