According to PM Netanyahu, Israel is facing its worst fires in a decade.
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has imposed a national emergency, warning that the wildfires raging near Jerusalem could soon reach the city itself. The fire has wrapped the highways under a thick smoke cover triggering emergency evacuations and injuries. The firefighters are being aided by the military in the rescue operation of what is being deemed as the worst brushfires Israel has witnessed recently.
The PM라이브 바카라 office has announced that three aircrafts from Italy and Russia will be arriving to assist in the aftermath of the fire.
According to Israel라이브 바카라 rescue agency Magen David Adom (MDA), treatment has been administered to 23 individuals with 13 of them being admitted to hospitals for smoke inhalation and burns.
The alert in the nation has been flagged to the highest with the PM asserting the western winds to be capable of pushing the fire towards the city.
Police have closed the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway as the area was already impacted by blazes a week before. “A lot of police and firefighters arrived, but it didn’t help. The fire had already consumed the entire area,” said student Yosef Aaron while speaking to AFP.
PM Netanyahu delivered a video statement stating, “We need to bring as many fire engines as possible and create firebreaks well beyond the current fire lines. We are now in a national emergency, not just a local one. The priority right now is defending Jerusalem.”
