The African country of Gabon is set to vote for its new President on Saturday, with junta chief Brice Oligui Nguema predicting a landslide victory. This election is the first since the August 2023 coup.
Nguema was instrumental in leading the coup that ended five decades of Bongo dynastic rule in the country when the former President Bongo announced his victory in 2023.
Nguema assumed office after the coup and last month announced his candidacy on April 12. With his campaign, he is attempting to shed his military image in the wake of a democratic election, redesigning himself as a "candidate of the people".
His election posters dominate the country라이브 바카라 capital Libreville, with the campaign slogan “C’Bon” a play on his name and the French word “It라이브 바카라 good”, AFP reported. He has taken on social media as well, recreating popular choreography; also borrowing Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt라이브 바카라 signature lightning bolt pose.
However, his campaign strategy is similar to that of the Bongo family, political analyst Lysiane Neyer Kenga told AFP.
Alain-Claude Bilie By Nze has emerged as Nguema's main opponent, who was the Prime Minister under the last Bongo President, Ali Bongo. In a bid to distance himself from the ousted President, he too launched a fresh election campaign titled "Together for Gabon".
Polls are expected to open between 7:30AM till 6:00PM, and the country라이브 바카라 interior minister has assured that the results will be out by April 16 at the latest
