Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will also be present at the gathering. The south-american nation possesses the largest Catholic population and had also declared a seven day mourning following the pope라이브 바카라 death.

The pope will be buried at Santa Maria Maggiore church in Rome라이브 바카라 Esquilino neighbourhood, which was stated in his will. Based on his request, Pope Francis broke a longstanding Vatican tradition.

Traditionally, when a pope dies they get three coffins placed inside each other, one made of cypress wood, one of lead and one of elm.

Pope Francis, however, will be buried in one coffin made of wood and lined with zinc and his remains will be placed at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, instead of St Peter's.

After a pope dies, a traditional mourning period is initiated and lasts for nine days. This is also known as the novendiales.

The election for a new pope usually begins 15 to 20 days post the pope라이브 바카라 death. Prior to this, a congregation is called upon which must be attended by all cardinals.

The Pope's coffin has been sealed. It was a private ceremony, attended by Vatican officials and some of the Pope's family members.

Currently, Pope Francis’ body placed in St. Peter라이브 바카라 Basilica, where cardinals and members of the public will be able to pay their respects for three days. Thousands of mourners are packed into the piazza outside, waiting in line to visit the pope라이브 바카라 coffin.

The body was transferred to the basilica from the chapel of Casa Santa Marta, the Vatican guesthouse where Francis lived during his papacy.

Francis’ coffin has been laid at the Altar of the Confessio, a sacred space near the basilica라이브 바카라 main altar, above the tomb of St. Peter, the first pope. In keeping with Francis’ push to simplify the papal rites, his body is lying in an open wooden coffin, having done away with the tradition of having three coffins of cypress, lead and oak.

According to BBC, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has just arrived in Rome to attend the funeral with his wife, Olena Zelenska, and a Ukrainian delegation.

Zelensky had previously said he would attend the funeral. But there was still some uncertainty on Friday whether his travel plans - disrupted by air strikes in Kyiv earlier this week - would get him to Rome in time.

US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have just arrived at St Peter's Square to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, as per BBC.

Pope Francis chose to follow a “path of self-giving until the last day of his earthly life,” Cardinal Re said in the homily at the late pontiff라이브 바카라 funeral.

“The final image we have of him, which will remain etched in our memory, is that of last Sunday, Easter Sunday, when Pope Francis, despite his serious health problems, wanted to give us his blessing from the balcony of Saint Peter라이브 바카라 Basilica,” Re said.

According to BBC, Pope Francis's coffin is now going to be carried in a slow procession to the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome for burial.

The procession will leave Vatican City, following a 6km (3.75 miles) route over the Tiber River before entering Piazza Venezia, passing by the Colosseum.

It will then turn northward to arrive at Santa Maria Maggiore.
