Swedish police have arrested a teenager in connection with a deadly triple shooting that occurred in Uppsala on April 29. The suspect allegedly fled the scene on a scooter after opening fire inside a hair salon in the city center, prompting a widespread manhunt.

Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the individual in custody is under 18 years old.

According to police, the three victims were between 15 and 20 years old, although regional police chief Erik Åkerlund noted their identities have not been fully verified.

Investigators are exploring potential links to gang-related activity, as reported by Swedish media. One of the victims was reportedly known to law enforcement.

The victim was involved in a police investigation over a planned attack against a relative of gang leader Ismail Abdo, according to the reports. The person was never charged.

Abdo, nicknamed 'jordgubben' or 'the strawberry', is a well-known gang leader.

According to Euronews, authorities had cordoned off a large section of the city.

Witnesses told broadcaster SVT they had heard five gunshots and had seen people in the area running to take cover. They had also allegedly seen the suspect drive away on a scooter.

Police have opened a murder investigation and are searching for one suspected perpetrator, as reported by news agency TT.
