Meanwhile, the United States is said to be working towards more sanctions against Russia as the war in Ukraine rages on.
As per Ukrainian officials, surprise attacks were launched across the region against Russian troops. In a Telegram post on Sunday, Andriy Yermak head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office said - “Kursk region, good news, Russia is getting what it deserves.”
"In the Kursk region the Russians are deeply concerned. They were attacked on multiple fronts, which came as a surprise to them,” said Andriy Kovalenko, a senior official with Ukraine라이브 바카라 National Security and Defense Council on Telegram.
As per TASS news agency, the Russian defence ministry stated that the attacks have been repelled.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy further added that both Russia and North Korean forces "suffered heavy losses" in the Kursk region.
As the Biden administration enters its last few weeks in office, the US government is working towards increasing sanctions against Russia as the war in Ukraine rages on.
As per a Reuters reports, the latest sanctions aim to hit Russia's oil revenues. Sources told the news agency that action against tankers using Russian crude oil would also be part of the sanctions.
Since the start of the war in 2022, the US has issued various sanctions against Russia, resulting in Moscow redirecting its oil sales to China and India.
