Amid the crackdown on immigrants in the United States, the Trump administration has issued some new rules. As per these, immigrants in the US must carry proof of their legal status at all times.

Furthermore, the Trump administration has also called on all foreign nationals in the country to register with federal authorities or face forceful deportation.

Mandatory Registration And 24/7 ID Proof

Under the 'Protecting the American People Against Invasion,' which came into effect on April 11, any immigrant in the US must register with federal authorities, even if they are present in the country through legal means.

As per the announcement from the White House, all foreign nationals in the US staying longer than 30 days must register with the federal government.

"Failure to comply with this is a crime punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both… If not, you will be arrested, fined, deported, never to return to our country again,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

This rule also applies to non-citizens in the US such as visa holders, green card recipients and work permit holders.

Apart from registration, immigrants must carry legal proof of their stay in the United States at all times.

Non-compliance could result in fines up to $5,000 or 30 days imprisonment.

Any foreign nationals entering the US after April 11, must register themselves within 30 days, in case they are not already documented. Furthermore, all children 14 and above must re-register themselves and submit fingerprints within 30 days of their birthday.
