WATCH | Abdul Majeed Awaan Describes Local Efforts to Help Victims During Pahalgam Attack

A local resident from Pahalgam recounts the horror of the April 22 militant attack. One of the locals, Abdul Majeed Awaan, said, "There was no way to count them. We were helping people and giving them water. That was our only job — we were out there on the road. If someone fell, we picked them up." So whenever the crowd got too heavy, we tried to manage it. He further added the canal was packed, filled with horses and people. When the crowd grew too big, if someone fell, then we just didn’t want anyone to get hurt. And that was our work, that's what we were doing.
