Amid the heightened tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. According to an India TV report, the Chief Air Marshal briefed PM Modi about the overall situation in the critical sea lanes for about 40 minutes.

The meeting took place a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi. Just last week, PM Modi chaired the second Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting at his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. During that meeting with the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, PM Modi reportedly authorized them to take any necessary operational action against Pakistan.

On April 29, the Prime Minister led a high-level security meeting attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, the service chiefs, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Reinforcing his confidence in the armed forces, PM Modi is said to have granted them "full freedom" to determine the nature of the response to Pakistan.

Tensions have been escalating since the deadly April 22 attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, which claimed the lives of 26 personnel. In the aftermath, Pakistan has engaged in continuous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, with Sunday marking the 10th consecutive day of unprovoked cross-border firing.
