An FIR against the professor of the Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College was registered under BNS sections 64 (2), 68, and 75.
A college professor in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras was suspended after a case was registered against him for allegedly sexually exploiting girl students. The action was taken on the basis of a complaint by an anonymous person who described him as a ‘monster’.
Police on March 13 registered an FIR against Rajnish, professor and head of the geography department at Seth Phool Chand Bagla PG College in Hathras.
The complainant alleged that the professor engaged in obscene acts with girls and exploited them and made their videos, a news agency PTI report said. The complainant's letter, which was sent to the Women's Commission and other senior officials last week, also mentioned that she had reported this matter earlier as well but, no action had been taken till now.
"(Narendra) Modi government supports 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' but even after that such people are committing cruelty to their daughters. I am so troubled by this cruel person that sometimes I think of committing suicide," the complainant wrote in the letter.
The letter further made a request for the girl students to be saved. "Due to public shame, no girl student will say anything. Therefore, please take strict action against this monster and provide justice to many girls like me," it said.
The complainant also attached some photos of the professor indulging in obscene activities, police said.
Circle Officer Yogendra Krishna Narain said that the FIR was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 64(2)(rape), 68(sexual intercourse by a person in authority), and 75 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
SP Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said to ANI: "As per the prima facie, Rajneesh, the Chief Proctor of PC Bagla Degree College used to assault girls on the pretext of passing them in the competitive exams, providing them jobs and others... A case has been registered with various sections (of IPC) and 3 teams have been constituted for the arrest of the professor; all the relevant evidence are being collected... We will ensure due procedures and present the professor in front of the court after investigation."
