Anil Mahto, also known as Anil Tiger, was shot dead on Wednesday in the capital city of Ranchi. As per reports, the incident took place at Kanke Chowk.
After the killing of senior BJP leader Anil Mahto Tiger, workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), have called for a Ranchi Bandh today - March 27, 2025, over the deteriorating state of law and order in Jharkhand.
Anil Mahto, also known as Anil Tiger, was shot dead on Wednesday in the capital city of Ranchi. As per reports, the incident took place at Kanke Chowk.
Following this killing, BJP supporters, AJSU and other organisations called for a nine-hour bandh in Ranchi.
Visuals of party workers showed demonstrations in various areas of Ranchi on Thursday morning, such as Harmu, Dhurwa and Piska More.
"We have called for a nine-hour bandh till 5 pm to protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and the murder of Anil Mahto Tiger," party spokesperson Pradeep Sinha told news agency PTI.
BJP and AJSU workers were also seen protesting outside the Jharkhand Assembly on Thursday morning.
In view of the bandh, several schools in Ranchi have remained shut.
Along with the BJP and AJSU, Jharkhand Krantikari Loktantrik Morcha, Kendriya Sarna Samiti and other organisations have extended support for the bandh.
BJP's Ranchi Rural District general secretary Anil Mahto Tiger was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday. The former zila parishad member was shot dead while sitting at a roadside shop, making arrangements for Mahaveer Jayanti.
Police have arrested one accused, Rohit Verma, after an encounter. The hunt is on for the second attacker.
