Government Bans 16 Pakistani Media Channels Citing Provocative And Communally Sensitive Content

Channels including SAMAA TV, ARY News, Dawn news among others have been banned for spreading misleading content against India.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of India has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels having a cumulative subscriber list of approximately 63 million. According to sources, the channels were banned for circulating provocative and communally sensitive content while also propagating misleading narratives against India. The content was produced and disseminated in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. 

The channels that were banned include Dawn News, SAMAA TV, Irshad Bhatti, ARY News, BOL News, Raftar, The Pakistan reference, Geo News, Samaa Sports, GNN, Uzair Cricket. Umar Cheema Exclusive, Asma Shirazi, Muneeb Farooq, SUNO News HD, and Razi Naama. 

As per sources within the government, the channels were peddling false and misleading narratives and misinformation against India, its Army and security agencies. 

Upon accessing the channels, “This content is unavailable in this country because of an order from the government related to national security or public order. For more details about government removal requests, please visit the Google Transparency Report at transparencyreport.google.com” is displayed. 

The Government has also objected to BBC India라이브 바카라 coverage of the Pahalgam terror attack. The Government has also sent a formal letter to the BBC warning them that the Ministry of External Affairs will be monitoring the organization라이브 바카라 reportage moving forward. 

The terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22 leading to swift actions from the government.
