Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir Celebrate 'White Christmas'; Mercury Drops in Haryana, Punjab

The mercury dipped sharply in Haryana and Punjab after rainfall lashed several parts of the states. In Chandigarh, people flocked to Sukhna Lake as maximum temperatures plummeted. Meanwhile, in Srinagar, boatmen huddled together for warmth on a cold winter day at Dal Lake. The region recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.6°C, as Kashmir entered the 40-day period of harsh winter known as 'Chilla-i-Kalan'.
