The tensions between India and Bangladesh primarily stem from allegations by Dhaka that India is attempting to construct fences at five locations along the India-Bangladesh border, which Bangladesh claims violates an existing bilateral agreement between the two nations.
The Indian government summoned Bangladesh라이브 바카라 Deputy High Commissioner, Nural Islam, on Monday following a significant rise in border tensions between the two neighbouring countries. This move comes a day after the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry had summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to express its concerns over the situation.
As per reports from news agency ANI, Nural Islam was seen leaving the Ministry of External Affairs’ South Block after being summoned. The tensions between India and Bangladesh primarily stem from allegations by Dhaka that India is attempting to construct fences at five locations along the India-Bangladesh border, which Bangladesh claims violates an existing bilateral agreement between the two nations.
Bangladesh라이브 바카라 Home Affairs Adviser, Lt Gen (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury highlighted that the border dispute involves five key locations, including Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Lalmonirhat, and the Tin Bigha Corridor in northwestern Bangladesh. He accused the previous government, led by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, of signing imbalanced agreements, which he claimed have exacerbated border tensions and contributed to disputes over fencing at 160 sites between 2010 and 2023.
Earlier, on Sunday, Bangladesh had summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to address “deep concern” over recent actions by India라이브 바카라 Border Security Force (BSF). The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry criticised India라이브 바카라 attempts to construct fences at the border without proper authorization, accusing these actions of violating the spirit of cooperation between the two nations.
Following the meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma responded, emphasising India라이브 바카라 commitment to a crime-free border. Verma reiterated that India and Bangladesh have a mutual understanding regarding border fencing for security reasons. He added that the BSF and Bangladesh's Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces have been in communication to address challenges such as smuggling, criminal activities, and trafficking along the border.
Verma also pointed to a history of cooperative efforts between the two countries’ border security forces and expressed hope that the ongoing understanding will be implemented to enhance cooperation and reduce border-related crimes.
The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry also expressed concerns over the recent killing of a Bangladeshi citizen by the BSF in Sunamganj, urging Indian authorities to take urgent action to prevent further incidents. Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin underscored the need for immediate investigations into such incidents and demanded accountability for those responsible.
In response, Bangladesh reiterated its stance that these border issues should be resolved through dialogue, stressing the importance of maintaining peaceful relations between the two countries.
