The makers of Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda starrer movie 'Jaat' have now taken down a controversial scene from the film following an allegation of hurting religious sentiments of Christians who reportedly demanded a ban on the film.

As per reports, the complainant said that a particular crucifixion scene in the movie mocked Lord Jesus Christ, which has hurt the religious feelings of the Christian community.

In an official statement released on Friday, the movie makers said, "There has been a backlash for a specific scene in the film. The scene has been removed from the film with immediate effect."

Moreover, the movie makers also reportedly asserted that added that their intention was not to hurt any religious sentiments. "We deeply regret it and have taken a quick action of deleting the scene from the film. We sincerely apologise to everyone whose beliefs have been hurt," they said.

Police Case Filed

Earlier, based on a complaint by Vikalp Gold, a resident of Pholdiwal village in Jalandhar, a case was registered at Jalandhar's Sadar Police Station against actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, director Gopichand Malineni, and producer Naveen Yerneni under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Row Over Hurting Religious Sentiments

Following the release of the movie on April 10, the Christian community reportedly raised strong objections to a scene where Randeep Hooda was shown standing inside a church, under a crucifix placed above the sacred pulpit, while people in the church are praying.

"The director, writer and producer deliberately released this film during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread," the complainant alleged, while demanding a ban on the movie.

'Jaat' is directed by Gopichand Malineni and produced by Naveen Malineni under the People Media Factory banner, along with Maitri Movie Makers and TG Vishwa Prasad.
