As per PTI, Khan has been among the 100 individuals booked and arrested over the violence that erupted in Nagpur on March 17. Khan has been booked under sedition.
As per reports, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation had issued a notice to Khan, citing various violations, including the lack of building plan approval for his house, before carrying out the demolition.
Furthermore, Nagpur also recorded its first fatality due to the March 17 violence. As per reports, 38-year-old Irfan Ansari succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
As per the Indian Express, Ansari passed away five days after he was attacked by a mob in Nagpur, at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital.
Speaking to reporters, his brother - Imran Ansari stated that his brother had left home to board a train to Itarsi. However, due to the violence, Irfan had to continue his journey to the railway station on foot, where he was later attacked by the mob.
On March 17, violence broke out in Nagpur after a rumour spread that a "Chadar" with religious inscriptions had been burnt during the protests led by right-wing groups such as Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.
Right-wing groups, fueled by the movie 'Chhaava', carried out protests to demand the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The clashes resulted in widespread stone-pelting and arson across the city.
