The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab has accused the central government of treating the state in a “step-motherly” manner after the US deported 104 illegal Indian immigrants. The deportation, which involved a US military aircraft landing at Amritsar라이브 바카라 Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport on February 5, has sparked outrage among politicians across the country.
The AAP, along with Congress leaders, has raised concerns over the inhumane treatment of the deportees and questioned the government's silence on the issue.
Punjab AAP president and cabinet minister Aman Arora expressed discontent with the government라이브 바카라 treatment of Punjab, accusing the Centre of being indifferent to the state라이브 바카라 concerns.
“Deportees were from across the country. (Deportees) from other states were more than those from Punjab ... (but) it (plane) landed in Amritsar. I am not objecting to them coming here but by leaving the national capital and landing it (plane) in Amritsar ... there is substance in what you are saying,” Arora stated.
Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, representing Amritsar, criticised the government for failing to protest the deportation process. “Why didn’t the plane land in Delhi? Why was it allowed to land in Amritsar, a city with far fewer deportees?” Aujla asked, adding that the treatment of these deported Indians was an affront to the nation's dignity
NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal echoed similar sentiments, calling the deportation process a “gross violation of human rights.” He urged the central government to take up the matter with the United States, ensuring deported citizens are handed over to Indian embassies for safe return. Dhaliwal also stated that the deportation flight라이브 바카라 choice of Amritsar was “politically motivated.”
The 104 deported individuals, which included 19 women and 13 minors, arrived on a US military plane at 1:55 PM on Wednesday. While the deportees hailed from several Indian states, including Haryana, Gujarat, and Punjab, the plane라이브 바카라 choice of Amritsar as its landing point has raised eyebrows.

Congress MLA Pargat Singh claimed the incident was part of a broader strategy to protect the “Gujarat Model” and tarnish Punjab라이브 바카라 reputation. He added that the Centre had not granted permission for international flights to Punjab, depriving the state of potential economic benefits while orchestrating this negative portrayal.
Furthermore, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang criticised the manner in which the deportees were treated, calling it “inhumane.” He pointed out the humiliation these individuals faced, having been deported like criminals despite their search for better opportunities abroad.
“Immigration is a global phenomenon. People migrate for work and better life prospects, but treating them like hardened criminals is shameful,” Kang said, calling for accountability from the government.
He also questioned Prime Minister Modi라이브 바카라 stance on the issue and said “Modi claims that Trump is his friend. Then why is he not raising this issue with him? Why is he allowing Indians to be treated in such an undignified manner as if they are criminals?”
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati also strongly reacted to the deportation. Yadav took to social media, accusing the Modi government of remaining silent in the face of the dehumanising treatment of Indians sent back from the US. He demanded to know why the government had failed to protect the deportees, especially women and children.
Mayawati echoed Yadav라이브 바카라 concerns, calling the deportation “worse than prisoners” and a stain on India라이브 바카라 national pride. She urged the central government to address the issue seriously to prevent future such incidents, warning that more deportations could follow as part of the US administration's crackdown on illegal immigration.
