Pahalgam Attack: China Calls For Fair Investigation, Congress Disowns Controversial Remarks By Its Leaders

The government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Monday flagged that some pro-Pakistan social media accounts are falsely claiming that 'confidential documents' related to the preparedness of the Indian Army have been "leaked". In a post on X, PIB Fact Check dubbed these documents as "fake".

A day after the brazen attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had firmed up New Delhi's retaliatory measures, directed the security forces to maintain "high vigil" and resolved to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice.

A large number of Indian community and diaspora representatives descended upon the High Commission of India in London to counter a Pakistani demonstration that was called to protest against what was branded as "Indian propaganda" in wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Chanting "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram" and waving the Indian Tricolour, the pro-Indian demonstrators outnumbered the smaller group of British Pakistanis across the road from India House on Sunday evening.

As per media reports, amid the spiraling political tension, the Pakistan Army opened fire at several Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) for the third straight day on Sunday violating the February 2021 ceasefire agreement.

A Hindustan Times report suggested that Indian troops responded firmly to the firing and targeted the adversary라이브 바카라 posts facing the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors in north Kashmir.

China on Sunday reiterated their firm resolve to uphold regional peace and stability, promote mutual respect and understanding, and jointly oppose unilateralism and hegemonic policies.

Expressing deep appreciation for China라이브 바카라 consistent and unwavering support, Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar assured Pakistan라이브 바카라 strong commitment to the Pakistan-China friendship and the shared vision of an All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Over 15,000 troops and at least two MI-17 helicopters have been pressed into service in the Baisaran meadow in South Kashmir라이브 바카라 Anantnag district. This comes on the third day after the terrorist attack, which killed 26 people, including one Nepali citizen.

MI-17 helicopters combed the area where militants earlier carried out a targeted attack on the tourists. According to a CPRF official, who was part of the anti-militancy operation, round-the-clock combing in the thickly forested area has been ongoing since Tuesday afternoon.

Commenting on the rising political tension over the Phalagam attack, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said, “This is the land of Gautam Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi. We will not tolerate any form of violence or unrest. The world is witnessing the consequences of violence in every country. That라이브 바카라 why we have consistently raised our voice against terrorism, and we continue to do so. We fully support the path India has taken to fight against it, and under the leadership of Modi ji, this fight is being carried out effectively.”

In the pitch dark night, a large number of security force personnel surrounded the house of Aamir Nazir, a militant in Khasipora area of South Kashmir's Tral.  Their family members were removed from the house and later detained before an IED was set up inside their home to blow it up, said the militant라이브 바카라 relatives.

According to the relatives and neighbours, besides the parents of the militant, his brother and sister were also detained. The action came as part of the stepped-up efforts by the security forces in the aftermath of the Pahalgam militant attack that claimed 26 lives.

Elsewhere in Kashmir, police also conducted searches at the residence of separatist associates and Over Ground Workers ( OGWs) who were accused of providing logistic support to the militants and motivating youth to join their ranks.

After UK, members of the Indian community hold a protest outside Pakistan consulate in New York against the Pahalgam terror attack.

Condemning the heinous attack in Pahalgam, Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, "Pakistan always talks about being a nuclear power; they need to remember if they enter a country and kill innocent people, that country will not sit quietly. No matter the government, by killing our people on our land, and targeting them based on religion, what 'deen' are you talking about?... You have acted like the ISIS. I want to tell the Prime Minister that if Kashmir is our integral part, then Kashmiris are also our integral part... We cannot doubt the Kashmiris..."

Commenting on today's scheduled assembly session, Jammu and Kashmir LoP Sunil Sharma told PTI, “A few days ago, the chief minister called an all-party meeting where a clear message was given that every political party in Jammu and Kashmir is standing with the nation, rising above politics, and expressing condolences for those souls who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. Today라이브 바카라 assembly session is a step towards sending that message, and it is a welcome move. On a day like today, there should be absolutely no politics.”

On the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of India has banned the 16 Pakistani YouTube channels including Dawn News, Samaa TV, Ary News, Geo News for disseminating provocative and communally sensitive content, false and misleading narratives and misinformation against India, its Army and security agencies in the backdrop of the tragic Pahalgam terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir, says ANI quoting govt sources.

J&K Assembly observes 2 minutes silence before special session to remember Pahalgam terror attack victims.

After the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the recent Pahalgam militant attack, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather appealed to the Government of India to ensure the safety and protection of Kashmiri traders, students, and citizens residing or traveling across the country in the wake of the deadly attack.

16 Pakistani YouTube channels with a total of 63 million subscribers have been banned in India for spreading "provocative and communally sensitive content" in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.

The channels include popular Pakistani news channels such as Dawn, Geo TV, Samaa TV and ARY News.

Furthermore, the BBC was given a warning for one of its headlines on the Pahalgam attack. As per government sources, the headline read - "Pakistan suspends visas for Indians after deadly Kashmir attack on tourists" - which netizens alleged reads as if India was behind the attack.

External Publicity Department of the Ministry of External Affairs has said the country's "strong sentiments" have been conveyed to Jackie Martin, India Head for BBC, regarding their reportage. Furthermore, a letter regarding the use of the term militants rather than terrorists has been issued.

Congress MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Pahalgam terror attack said, “At this moment, the incident that has happened is an opportunity for everyone to unite and maintain an atmosphere of brotherhood in the country. The terrorists came with a targeted agenda, and although they may have chosen specific individuals, the way they separated Hindus and Muslims to achieve their target is a clear message — do we want to advance their divisive agenda or defeat it? We must defeat it.”

While addressing the special session of J&K Assembly over Pahalgam attack, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Surinder Kumar Choudhary said, "This house appeals to the government to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of Kashmiri students and citizens residing in or travelling outside J&K, and to take all necessary measures to prevent harassment, discrimination, or intimidation."

Addressing the speacial assembly session in view of Pahalgam attack, CM Omar Abdullah said, "... This incident affected the entire country. We have seen many such attacks in the past... An attack of such a large scale has been carried out after 21 years in Baisaran... I did not know how to apologise to the families of the deceased... Being the host, it was my duty to send the tourists back safely. I couldn't do it. I do not have the words to seek an apology."

Amid the row over his reported statement that India should have talks with Pakistan, JKPCC President Tariq Hamid Karra said, "We have condemned it in the strongest possible words... No ifs and buts in it, whatever Rahul Gandhi has said, the entire nation is with that and the entire nation is with the government... I have not said anything regrettable... This is simply a misinterpretation of things. Whatever I said is a reiteration of our leader, Rahul Gandhi. We said that wars have always brought devastation to both countries. I did not say anything about dialogue. I reiterate that whatever the government of India feels fit, the Congress party is with that, and we are in unison with the issue."

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday targeted PM Modi for skipping the all-party meeting called to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead.

"It is the misfortune of the country that when the pride of the country was hurt, you (PM Modi) were giving an election speech in Bihar," he said addressing the 'Samvidhan Bachao' rally.

"Leaders of all parties attended the all-party meeting, but it is sad that PM Modi did not come to that meeting. Was Bihar far away? The PM should have come to the all-party meeting and explained the plan. What help does he need from us?" he said.

"Modi gave inflation and unemployment. Such people weaken the country. The 56-inch chest has shrinked. Country is supreme, then come parties, religion. Everyone should be united for country," he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Monday expressing shock and anguish over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and resolved to fight resolutely to defeat the nefarious designs to disturb communal harmony and hinder progress.

The resolution, moved by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary during a special session of the Assembly, was passed by voice vote. At the beginning of the session, House members observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the 26 people killed in the tragedy last week.

"The Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir reaffirms its unwavering commitment to foster an environment of peace, development, and inclusive prosperity for all its citizens, and to resolutely defeat the nefarious designs of those who seek to disturb the communal harmony and progress of the nation and of Jammu and Kashmir," the resolution stated.

Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah said, "I will not use this moment to demand statehood. After Pahalgam, with what face can I ask for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir? Meri kya itni sasti siyasat hai?."

"We have talked about statehood in the past and will do so in the future too, but it will be shameful on my part if I go and tell the central government that 26 people have died, now give me statehood," he added.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah says, "We are deeply saddened that our neighbour (Pakistan) still does not understand that they have committed a crime against humanity. We are still not ready to accept the two-nation theory. Whether Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, or anyone else, we are all one. Those who think this way are trying to weaken us, but that is not the case; we are becoming stronger. And we will give them a befitting reply."

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule said, "May 1 is celebrated as Maharashtra Day. I have requested the CM that the families (of victims of the Pahalgam terror attack) should be honoured on May 1. We can't bring back the people we have lost, but we can support these families."

On Pahalgam terror attack, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said, "The whole world is against the incident which happened in Kashmir. The world has supported India on it. The government will do everything required to end terrorism...J&K govt needs to take responsibility for why the Centre was not informed about the opening of a tourist spot in J&K."

Former Nepal PM Baburam Bhattarai condemns the Pahalgam terror attack; he said, "Unpleasant, ghastly."

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly observed a two-minute silence on Monday to pay homage to the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack even as Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather urged the government to take immediate measures to enhance the safety and security of tourists and non-locals in the region.

As the House convened for a special session here, Rather condemned the killing of innocent tourists from various parts of the country.

"We pay homage to the victims and extend our condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones," he said.

Later, the speaker adjourned the House sine die after passage of a resolution expressing profound shock and anguish at the barbaric attack.

Speaking on the issue, Speaker Rather emphasised the urgent need for all members of the House to collaborate in creating a safe and conducive atmosphere for tourists.

After passage of the resolution unanimously, the House was adjourned sine die by the speaker.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence to brief him on security preparedness following the Pahalgam terror attack. 

Diplomats from Russia and China met in Moscow today to discuss counter-terrorism amid tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

The two sides discussed regional and global terrorist threats, the situation in the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and shared national experiences in countering terrorist ideology, radicalisation, and extremism.

China said it welcomes all measures to "cool down" the tension between India and Pakistan after the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists.

“China welcomes all measures that are conducive to cooling down the current situation and supports an impartial investigation as soon as possible,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a media briefing.

The Congress on Monday distanced itself from the controversial comments of some of its leaders on the Pahalgam terror attack, saying that only the recent CWC resolution and the views expressed by AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and authorised AICC office-bearers represent its position.

The Opposition party라이브 바카라 assertion comes in the wake of remarks by leaders like Vijay Wadettiwar, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Shashi Tharoor, Tariq Hameed Karra and Saifuddin Soz that have triggered a row, with the BJP alleging that some from the opposition party were speaking “Pakistan라이브 바카라 language”.

“Some Congress leaders have been speaking to the media. They speak for themselves and do not reflect the Congress’ views,” Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said.
