Pahalgam Attack: Pak Info Minister's X Handle Blocked In India After 'India Will Strike' Claim

Adding to the list of banned Pakistani channels and social media handles after the deadly Pahalgam attack killing 26 people, India on Saturday blocked Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar's X account days after he claimed that Islambad had "credible intelligence" that New Delhi may carry out a military strike on the neighbouring country within 24 to 36 hours.

This came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the Indian armed forces "complete operational freedom" to respond to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.

What Did The Minister Say?

Tarar on Wednesday claimed that Islamabad had "credible intelligence" that India is planning military action against it in the next 24-36 hours and warned New Delhi that there would be consequences.

Sharing a video on X, Tarar said the Indian government is preparing to carry out military action against Pakistan on the basis of "baseless and concocted allegations" regarding Pakistan라이브 바카라 involvement in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

The minister in his statement highlighted that Pakistan had itself been a victim of terrorism and had always condemned it in all its forms while adding that Islamabad had offered a “credible, transparent and independent” probe by a neutral commission of experts.

Pakistan urged the international community to remain alive warning that any military adventurism by India would be “responded to assuredly and decisively” and that the “onus of any escalatory spiral and its consequences shall squarely lie with India.”

Pak Actors' Social Media Handles Blocked In India

Recently, the official Instagram handles of several Pakistani actors, including Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan have been disabled in India. Several Indian users are currently unable to access their profiles.

Besides the two popular actors, the other Pakistani celebrities whose Instagram accounts have been disabled in India include Ali Zafar, Maya Ali, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas and Sajal Aly. However, the Instagram accounts of some other popular Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan and Wahaj Ali are still visible in India.

Upon trying to access the Pakistani celebrities' Instagram accounts, the netizens in India are served with a message reading, "Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content."

Pakistani Channels Banned In India

Previously, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of India banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels having a cumulative subscriber list of approximately 63 million for circulating provocative and communally sensitive content while also propagating misleading narratives against India.

The channels that were banned include Dawn News, SAMAA TV, Irshad Bhatti, ARY News, BOL News, Raftar, The Pakistan reference, Geo News, Samaa Sports, GNN, Uzair Cricket. Umar Cheema Exclusive, Asma Shirazi, Muneeb Farooq, SUNO News HD, and Razi Naama. 

Indo-Pak Tension Escalates

Since the past few days after the deadly April 22 Pahalgam attack killing 26 people, the border tension between the two nations are on the rise as Pakistani Army has been targeting different Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC).

The Pakistan military has been put on high alert following India's assertion that it would hunt down the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam strike.

In view of the cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam attack, India responded with a series of retaliatory measures against Pakistan including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), suspension of visas, closure of Wagah-Attari border amongst others.

Pakistan has also responded with tit-for-tat measures and closed its airspace to Indian-owned and operated airlines.
