Speaker Om Birla adjourned the lower house till 12PM amid protests from the opposition. Opposition leaders from the Samajwadi party members held up posters during the question hour of the Lok Sabha. In response, Birla said "poster baazi na karien" and called for early adjournment.
In the Rajya Sabha, proceedings have been adjourned till 2 PM today, after BJP MPs created a ruckus over the issue of reservation to Muslims in public contracts in Karnataka.
Karnataka Deputy CM and Rajya Sabha MP' DK Shivkumar's remarks on reservation sparked an uproar in the Rajya Sabha.
As per reports, DK Shivkumar stated that Congress will amend the Constitution to provide reservations for Muslims. In response to this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju raised the matter and stated that the Congress is trying to "subvert the Constitution by bringing religion-based reservation."
Meanwhile, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has called for a meeting with the leader of the House JP Nadda and the leader of the Opposition Malikarjun Kharge to discuss the matter regarding the Delhi HC judge Yashwant Varma's cash row.
