Parliament on Tuesday approved supplementary demands for grants, which include additional expenditure of Rs 51,463 crore in the current financial year and the Manipur budget for 2025-26. Also, the Rajya Sabha has returned four bills to the Lok Sabha.
Earlier on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha about the successful organisation of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which he described as an important moment in India's history. After his speech, opposition members demanded the right to ask questions, which Speaker Om Birla rejected, saying it was not in accordance with the rules.
Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates met Union Minister JP Nadda in Parliament on Wednesday. Gates has come to India for the third time in three years. The details of his meeting are not clear.
Following his meeting, JP Nadda took to his microblogging website X, stating: 'We look forward to renewing our Memorandum of Cooperation'.
Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy shared her happiness on the return of astronaut Sunita Williams and congratulated her.
"I feel extremely happy. A daughter has come back home. And what a difficult period she had. My blessings and congratulations to her," Murthy said, as quoted by ANI.
Minister Jitendra Singh recalled Prime Minister Modi's letter to Sunita Williams and said that he had congratulated her through social media.
"...She (Sunita Williams) being a daughter of India has made the entire world proud. She's returning after more than 600 days, which is a record of sorts and has successfully accomplished the task that she was assigned to. While all of us pray for a safe return, we also feel proud of her..." he said.
Today, DMK MPs Kanimozhi, T Siva and Dayanidhi Maran along with other party MPs protested inside the Parliament House complex over the contentious issue of delimitation.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said, "The census has to be done next year in 2026. If the constituencies are going to be capped at 543 and the constituencies are going to be redrawn on the basis of the new census, South India will lose seats, as quoted by ANI.
"Particularly, Tamil Nadu will lose seats because we have effectively implemented family planning and population control and that will be unfair," he added.
