Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's second Indian Premier League hat-trick, followed by crucial knocks from captain Shreyas Iyer and opener Prabhsimran Singh on Wednesday (April 30, 2025) took Punjab Kings to a four-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings that ended the MS Dhoni-led franchise's playoff hopes. Chahal (4/32 in three overs) picked up four wickets in the 19th over to cut short CSK's death-overs dash and help dismiss them for 190 runs in 19.2 overs. Iyer (72 off 41) and Singh (54 off 36) then led the Punjab chase, which wobbled a bit towards the end but was eventually successful in overhauling the target in 19.4 overs. CSK lie at the bottom of the standings with four points from 10 games, and will play their remaining four matches purely for pride. PBKS, on the other hand, jumped to the second spot with the win.
