IND Vs AUS, 2nd Test: Netizens Troll Yashasvi Jaiswal As Youngster Gets Out On First Ball To Mitchell Starc In Adelaide

The second Test match of the ongoing India tour of Australia 2024-25 for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide Oval got off to a dramatic start with Mitchell Start trapping Yashasvi Jaiswal in front first ball for a golden duck on Friday (December 6, 2024). That set the tongues wagging, and for what? (IND Vs AUS 2nd Test Day 1 Blog | More Cricket News)

Jaiswal is one of the hottest batting talents. With his own rags-to-riches story, the 22-year-old from Uttar Pradesh has earned a legion of fans. But on Friday, many taunted the India opener following the dismissal. And some even advised the youngster to be humble.

Here's the context:

In the tour opener at Optus Stadium, Perth, Yashasvi Jaiswal allegedly sledged Mitchell Start with a "too slow" jibe during his fine second innings knock, 161 off 267.

Starc, 34, is already a legend of the game. Regarded as one of the finest exponents of their art, the Aussie entered the pink ball Test in Adelaide with 361 wickets, and as it turned out, took one ball to have his revenge.

The returning India captain won the toss and opted to bat first. The 295-run win in the opener under stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah set the five-match series beautifully as both teams, besides the prestigious bilateral series trophy, also fight for a place in the ICC World Test Championship final.

India made three changes with Rohit, Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin returning to the playing XI, in place of Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar. Australia, meanwhile, have Scott Boland -- a cult figure Down Under -- in for injured pacer Josh Hazlewood.
