Chasing a modest target of 83 runs, Niki Prasad-led Indian team achieved the target in the 12th over with nine wickets in hand. Gongadi Trisha (44 not out off 33 balls) and Sanika Chalke (26 not out off 22 balls) comfortably reached the target.
Earlier, the Proteas Women won the toss and opted to bat first on the pitch which was looking nice to bat on. India's opener bowler Joshitha VJ conceded 10 runs thanks to the attacking mindset of the South African opener Jemma Botha.
Parunika Sisodia dismissed Simone Lourens in the next over to provide the first breakthrough. She proved to be very economical on big occasions and finished her spell with bowling figures of 4-0-6-2.
Shabman Shakil dismissed the set batter Botha in the fourth over when wicketkeeper G Kamalini took a diving catch on her right side. That was the turning point of the match.
