After dismissing the Windies for 44 all out in 13.2 overs, the defending champions chased the target down in just 4.2 overs with skipper G Kamalini and Sanika Chalke stitching an unbeaten 43-run stand for the second wicket.
India did lose Gongadi Trisha in the second ball of the chase, caught and bowled by Jahzara Claxton, but it was one dominant performance for the inaugural champions.
Earlier, Kamalini won the toss and decided to bowl first under overcast conditions. Joshitha VJ struck in the fourth over, and it opened the floodgates. In a miserly spell, Parunika Sisodia claimed three wickets (3/7 in 2.2 overs), while Joshitha (2/5 in 2) and Aayushi Shukla (2/6 in 4) claimed a brace each.
India will face tournament debutants Malaysia on Tuesday before concluding the group engagements with a clash against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Sri Lanka also won their opener, a 139-run mauling of the hosts.
