Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out midway through the Sydney Test in Australia due to a back spasm. After the game was in a precarious state on day two, Bumrah left the field shortly after lunch and was taken to the hospital for a scan. Prasidh Krishna later confirmed that he had been struggling with back spasms. (More Cricket News)
Bumrah came to bat when India fell to 156-8 in their second innings but was out for a three-ball duck. He did not bowl for the rest of the match, and India lost by six wickets and suffered a 1-3 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

"A little frustrating (on injury) but sometimes you have to respect your body, and you can't fight your body," Bumrah had said after the match. "Sometimes, you have to accept. Would have loved to bowl on the spiciest wicket of the series. Just had a little discomfort after the first innings."
With India set to host England for a white-ball series including five T20Is and three ODI matches, Bumrah's availability is a major concern. India have a big pool of seam bowlers but what Bumrah brings to the table can't be matched by someone else. These eight games are India's only matches before the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
So, a fit and effective Bumrah will be needed but there has been no update on the seriousness of his back problem. According to some media reports, he may be rested from the series against England and can return to the ICC tournament starting on 19th February.
Some reports are suggesting that he might be available for the knockout stages of the Champions Trophy (if India qualify) is he misses the initial matches due to his back injury.
BCCI is yet to announce the India squad for the white-ball series against England, whereas the tourists have announced their T20I and ODI squad for the series.
