The pitch looks dry and there are dark clouds around the ground. Let us see what is in store tonight. We are all set to start.
DSG 10/0 (2)
Cautious start by the Super Giants openers. De Kock found the first boundary of the game in the second over but both him and his partner Breetzke have batted with caution so far. Both overs from spin from JSK and that tells us that it will be another spin heavy day at the SA20 2025.
DSG 39/3 (6)
Two wickets in the fifth over turned the powerplay on its head. De Kock and Breetzke had given DSG a good start before the former was dismissed by Viljoen in the fifth over and the latter was run out on the last ball of the same over. Stoinis too departed for a Duck on the penultimate ball of the powerplay, leaving DSG in trouble. Klaasen and Williamson in the middle now.
DSG 64/3 (9)
A partnership is budding here for DSG. Klaasen and Williamson are steering their side out of trouble. No big overs yet but DSG would not mind as they know that the pair in the middle can get the run rate up quite quickly when needed.
DSG 103/4 (13)
The partnership is broken. A timely dismissal for JSK as Williamson was also looking good in the middle but now he is gone. Viljoen with his second scalp of the game and the Kiwi goes back for 22. 64-run partnership between him and Klaasen thus ends but Klaasen is still and there and that will trouble JSK.
DSG 136/4 (17)
Klaasen is going strong and thus DSG are also going strong. They are looking for a 170+ total tonight. Klaasen has completed his fifty and is looking really dangerous. A big total might kill the match right here as it is not a flat track. JSK need Klaasen's wicket and they need it quickly.
DSG 173/4 (20)
A brilliant innings from Klaasen and he has given DSG a really good total to bowl at. He goes back unbeaten at 76 off 47 balls and Mulder too gave him good support at the end with 22-ball 30. Viljoen picked two wickets for JSK and Sipamla picked a wicket for just 24 runs in four overs.
JSK 29/1 (3) need 145 runs
Du Plessis is looking in good touch and it is a decent start for JSK. They have lost du Plooy but Faf has hit a six and a four. Conway is the new man in. Mulder was the man who sent du Plooy back.
JSK 31/1 (3.4) CRR: 8.45 REQ: 8.76
Rain stops play at the Wanderers in Johanessburg. Rain was predicted but it seemed that it would not come but the predictions have turned out to be right. Players walk off the field.
Conditions have not improved in Johanessburg and mind you we are still eight balls away from a result. The waiting game continues as the rain refuses to go away.
JSK 31/3 (5) need 116 runs in 66 balls
What a start for DSG after the break. Noor Ahmad is on fire. He is introduced into the attack and he dismisses du Plessis and Lubbe in the same over. The wrist-spinner also has two huge appeals against Moeen Ali but the Englishman survives. But the Afghan finishes his first over as a double wicket maiden.
JSK 68/4 (10) need 79 runs in 36 balls
The required run rate now has shot up to over 13. Conway is still there and Ferreira is yet to come but things keep getting tough for the Super Kings. They would want a few big overs to bring the run rate down but from where does the big over come?
JSK 87/6 (13) need 60 runs in 18 balls
Noor Ahmad finishes his spell, and for all practical purposes, this game as well. Even with Ferreira at the crease, the target seems unreachable for JSK. But miracles do happen on cricket grounds. Can Ferreira pull off a miracle?
JSK 126/6 (15) need 21 runs in 6 balls
Can we witness something miraculous tonight. Ferreira is looking like a man on a mission. He is hitting the ball hard and hitting it long. Out of nowhere, he has made a game out of it. 39 runs off the last two overs and the game is on at the Wanderers. Final over, 21 needed to win for JSK
Durban Super Giants win by 11 runs
Ferreira special goes in vain and DSG emerge victorius. Ferreira is dismissed in the final over for a stunning 22-ball 51 as Pretorius manages to hold his nerves. A consolation victory for DSG.
Heinrich Klaasen's unbeaten 74 had taken Durban Super Giants to 173/4. The target of 174 seemed big before rain cut it down to 146 in 16 overs. Noor Ahmad then struck thrice to push Joburg Super Kings out of the game before an unbelievable knock from Donovan Ferreira brought back life into the game. Ferreira was dismissed in the final over to give DSG a sigh of relief and a consolation victory. They finish the tournament at the bottom while JSK finish the league stage as the fourth-best side and will now face Sunrisers Eastern cape in the Eliminator.
DSG 173/4 (20)
JSK 135/9 (16)
DSG won by 11 runs (2nd Innings reduced to 16 ovs, DLS Target 147)
So the second last day of the SA20 league stage is done and we will be back tomorrow for the final night. See you then!
