A late surge from Thisara Perera, who smashed 22 off just 9 deliveries, gave their total an extra boost. For India, Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets each.
India faced early blows in their chase as Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag fell cheaply. However, Gautam Gambhir anchored the innings with a vital 97 before Thisara Perera bowled him out.
