Their first match in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League will be against Gujarat TItans (GT) on 25 March in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. PBKS will look to win their season opener, like last season, in an attempt to improve upon their title chances.

The Kings have started with a clean slate, opting to retain just the uncapped pair of Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Instead, Ricky Ponting라이브 바카라 team opted to spend big in the mega auction.

They signed Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 core and the batter was also handed captaincy duties for this season. Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh have also joined the team – the latter through a Right to Match (RTM) card – along with overseas stars such as Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Josh Inglish, and Azmatullah Omarzai.

PBKS also signed a number of IPL debutants, including Suryansh Shedge and Xavier Bartlett, among others.

Punjab Kings IPL 2025 Full Squad

Shreyas Iyer (c), Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Nehal Wadhera, Glenn Maxwell, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Yash Thakur, Harpreet Brar, Vishnu Vinod, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Inglis, Xavier Bartlett, Kuldeep Sen, Pyla Avinash, Suryansh Shedge, Musheer Khan, Harnoor Pannu, Aaron Hardie, Priyansh Arya, Azmatullah Omarzai

Strength

PBKS will look towards Shreyas Iyer as the much-needed catalyst for their title charge. Iyer was instrumental in Kolkata Knight Rider라이브 바카라 (KKR) title-winning season in 2024, and his new team will hope that the batter brings with him his golden touch. Other than his leadership qualities, he also scored more than 750 runs in the last two seasons combined, and his batting prowess will be invaluable to the Kings this season.

They also have a threatening new ball pair of Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen. With their height and swing they can set up the game in the Kings' favour within the powerplay.

Weakness

Other than Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis, there is a lack of in-form, bonafide stars in the PBKS batting lineup. Glenn Maxwell is a beast when he is on song, but his powers are clearly declining, as his disappointing figures from last season show. Punjab are hoping that their unproven and under-firing bunch click together, but it will not be an easy road ahead.

Opportunities

While building a cohesive unit out of a bunch of new signings is never easy, it can work wonders if done properly, and few people are more capable of this task than Ricky Ponting. The Aussie legend has a way of shining up rough diamonds, and if he can work his magic on the likes of Nehal, Shashank and Prabhsimran, the PBKS team can be a formidable force.

Threats

The biggest threat to the PBKS team would be their over-reliance on overseas stars like Stoinis and Maxwell for their middle-order batting. If one of those two has an off day, their team will be in trouble, with the Indian players not of the same calibre.
