Both the UAE and Japan are still relatively unknown entities in world cricket, but age-group teams from these countries continue to rub shoulders with players from established nations. And the eleventh edition of the ACC U19 Asia Cup, a 50-over cricket tournament, will provide them with another chance to test their mettle.
The ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 started on Friday with Group B clashes between holders Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Dubai, and Sri Lanka vs Nepal in Sharjah. India, Japan, Japan and the hosts United Arab Emirates are in Group A.
After the conclusion of the group stage, the two top teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals, scheduled for December 6. The final is slated for December 8.
