Group favourites Vidarbha started their SMAT 2024 campaign with a 33-run win over Odisha with Karun Nair claiming the POTM award for his 39-ball 77. But Jitesh Sharma & Co. were dealt a five-run defeat in their second match by Chandigarh in a high-scoring game.
Vidarbha resurrected their campaign with back-to-back wins against Puducherry and Assam, by seven and eight wickets, respectively. And now, they will enter the match against the Railways as group leaders (12 points from four matches).
The Railways are fifth in the seven-team table with one win in three matches. After a three-wicket defeat against Assam, Upendra Yadav's men produced a collective batting show to chase down Odisha's 194/5 with seven balls to spare. But they suffered another three-wicket defeat, this time against Chhattisgarh.
In other Group D matches on Sunday, Assam will take on Puducherry while Chhattisgarh face Odisha. Both matches start at 11:00 AM IST.
