The 28 teams will be vying to get through the round of 32 with some of the La Liga sides already out. Girona were eliminated by UD Logrones whereas Alaves and Espanyol also crashed out.
Real Madrid, Barca, Bilbao and Mallorca did not play the opening two rounds as the four representatives of the Spanish Super Cup, that will be taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The four sides rounded out the qualified clubs awaiting their opponents for the third round.
