The new season kicked off with the Supporters' Shield winners Inter Miami drawing 2-2 at to New York City. Elsewhere, Federico Bernardeschi scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute to help Toronto FC to a 2-2 draw with D.C. United in the season opener.
MLS 2025 New Format
With the arrival of San Diego FC as the 30th MLS franchise, all the clubs will play 34 regular games this season, with 17 home games and 17 away games. Each club will face its conference rivals in a corresponding visit (28 games) and six additional matches against six different teams from the other conference.
The MLS season will have a break from July 29-August 1 as they participate in the Leagues Cup.

MLS Decision Day 2025
The MLS Decision Day 2025 will be held on Saturday, October 18, with a enormous matchday in which all Eastern Conference games will be played along with Western Conference games. New York City FC will play host to Seattle Sounders in the interconference match to close out the season.
