The United Arab Emirates, also two-time champions, produced a creditable performance against heavy favourites Qatar, a 1-1 draw, in their opener. But the Sons of Zayed, as they are known colloquially, conceded a last-gasp winner to Kuwait in their 1-2 defeat.

Friday's UAE vs Oman clash is a repeat of the 2017-18 final which the latter won 5-4 on penalties after a goalless 120-minute action at Jaber International Stadium, Kuwait City.

With two wins in two, Bahrain have qualified for the semi-finals. They will take on already-eliminated Yemen in their final group match, while Saudi Arabia and Iraq clash in a virtual knock-out on Saturday. Both matches kick off at 8:00 PM IST/17:30 PM local time.
