Round of 16 Draw Format
As per the UCL Round of 16 format, teams from the group stage, who finished in the top eight, are seeded whereas the teams who qualified from the knockout phase are unseeded. There are no restrictions on the draw so a team can face the other team from the same country.
The draw structure is predetermined on the basis of the league positions from the league phase. That means
Teams who have finished first and second in the league phase will face the winners of the knockout phase playoffs matches that involved the 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th-placed teams.
Teams that have finished third or fourth in the league phase will take on the winners of the knockout phase playoff games that involve teams that have been placed 13th, 14th, 19th, and 20th, and so on.
